UNIT V: Designing the Field Report

The process of systematically presenting the facts obtained following a socio-economic survey of a rural or urban area is known as Field Report Writing. This report constitutes the final and most crucial component of the research work. Through this medium, the objectives of the survey, the methodologies employed, the analysis of data, and the conclusions drawn are clearly articulated.

1. Meaning of a Field Report

A Field Report is a written document in which information, observations, and conclusions derived from the survey area are presented in a scientific and systematic manner.

This report presents a true and realistic picture of the socio-economic status of a specific village, Panchayat, ward, block, or region.

2. Objectives of a Field Report (Aims and Objectives)

(A) Primary Objectives

To study the socio-economic status of the region.

To gather information regarding population, education, employment, income, health, etc.

To identify the major problems prevailing in the region.

To assess the potential for development within the region.

To ascertain the actual status of various schemes and government facilities.

To foster research and survey skills among students.

(B) Specific Objectives

To study the income and expenditure patterns of households.

To analyze the status of agriculture and business/trade activities.
